San Marzano Tomato
From Italy. Compact and a prolific producer of bright-red, slim, 4-7 inch, plum-type, fruit over a long season. A paste tomato with pointy end, heavy walls and little juice, so it's great for tomato sauce. Crack resistant. Better tasting than Roma. Large, open, indeterminate plants produce enormous, meaty fruit measuring 2 1/2 inches wide and 7 inches long. Ruby red tomatoes have green streaked shoulders and very few seeds. These giants will go a long way in sauce and salsa recipes.Indeterminate tomato vines (tall vines that need staking)San Marzano is from Italy originally, but does extreme well here as well.
